As it turns out, the popular image of the first Thanksgiving in America is not that accurate. It's time to dispel some common myths about the origin of our favorite holiday. Are you ready?

Actually, the people who landed on Plymouth Rock referred to themselves as "Saints". In those days, ALL the early colonists were called the pilgrims.

This harvest festival wasn't solemn at all and included gambling, drinking, athletic games and even target shooting.

They didn't actually dress this way. They were just portrayed so by the artists of the 19th century.

They didn't have beef, cheese or milk on the table as well. The Pilgrims ate deer, oysters, Indian corn and berries.
