Do you remember your first job? Was it interesting or boring? In early days it's difficult to imagine what kind of career you will have. Let's take a look at the first jobs of US presidents in which they had no idea they'd become presidents.
#1 At the age of 16 George Washington was a surveyor in the Shenandoah Valley.
#2 John Adams was a schoolmaster before he entered a law school at 21.
#3 Abraham Lincoln worked as a general store clerk.
#4 When Lyndon B. Johnson was a child he worked as a shoe cleaner during his summer holidays.
#5 Richard Nixon worked as a butcher and chicken plucker when he was a child.
#6 Ronald Reagan was an unskilled labourer and a lifeguard. He also worked as an actor before entering politics.
#7 Benjamin Harrison was a court crier.
#8 At the age of 13 Bill Clinton worked as a grocer.
#9 Barack Obama worked as an ice cream scooper when he was a teenager.

LBJ was a high school teacher before he went into politics. He graduated from what today is called Texas State University in San Marcos. He worked at his cousin's legal practice and in various odd jobs before returning to Texas, where he worked as a day laborer.
