Airports have their own rules and regulations that differ from one country to another. Ordinary travelers know not much about how the things work there. Let's learn some of their secrets!
#1 Airport staff analyses our expressions and behavior
Some airports have specialists called profilers. They analyze people's non-verbal communication. Asking where you are traveling, these specialists watch your mimics and gestures in order to detect suspicious individuals. Profilers are able to notice tiny changes in behavior if people lie. If a person evokes suspicions, a profiler talks to them to find out more.
#2 There are full-body security scanners in big airports
They were introduced to tighten security measures. People have to go through a scanner with their hands up. At first, airport specialists saw a person naked. However, later these scanners were replaced by ones that use radio-frequency technology.
#3 Personnel at the airport is not to blame if your luggage was sent to another country
If you don't receive your luggage upon arrival, it might be sent to another country. Automatic scanners scan the labels on your luggage and if there are some old labels on it, the system can scan them and send your luggage to a wrong destination.
#4 Airplane food is prepared 7-10 hours before a flight
All food is cooked near airports. Special kitchens cook for different air companies. If a flight is delayed and food has already been loaded on the plane, it will be replaced by new portions.
#5 Special services control planes when they fly and when they are parked
Air traffic control directs airplanes on the ground and in the sky; it also controls lighting on the runways. Air traffic controllers work in the towers you see at airports, radar rooms and on the ground. Each dispatcher has about five monitors to check the weather and control planes on the ground and in the sky. The information on them is constantly changing since the monitors show weather conditions and information about other planes.
#6 If your visa is expired you can get a free flight home
If you arrive in a foreign country with an expired visa, you are sure to be deported with the air company that took you there. A return ticket will be provided. Furthermore, the country you are deported from will have a mandatory ban on you for a certain period of time.
